Nattiwong Pankasem earned his Bachelor\u2019s degree in Agricultural Science from University of Tsukuba, Japan and is now pursuing his Ph.D. at University of California San Diego. Growing up on his family farm in the western outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand, he developed a strong interest in plant biology. His research focuses on the genetic, biochemical, and physiological basis of the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum (SPAC), with a particular emphasis on how stomata balance photosynthesis and water use.

Currently working in the Julian Schroeder Lab, he studies stomatal sensing and signaling under climate change-linked stresses, including elevated CO\u2082 and temperature. He also develops advanced genetic tools \u2014 such as artificial miRNA and multiplex CRISPR-Cas9 \u2014 to address redundant gene families, aiming to improve water-use efficiency and photosynthesis from model plants to crops.
